By Tim Amlong

Using pay-per-click (PPC) the right way you can make easy profits. All you need are these tips, to avoid pitfalls, and some quality time spent working at getting better at the game. If you do it the right way first, and keep at it, then you can really create a ton of cash, and a lot of clients both now, and in the future. The key is finding your niche, keeping track of what works, and keeping tabs on your return in investment. (ROI)

Finding What your Good At

A targeted audience with your website is best. General Websites draw too many people just as general ads draw too many clicks. You want a targeted audience if you are to make good profits. A targeted audience is generally already sold on the subject, idea, or product and click on your targeted PPC ad to reach specifically what your ad advertised. While this may seem simple enough, all too often it's this one mistake that if the downfall to a website owners ROI on their PPC ads.

Okay, this is how it works. Let's say for the sake of this discussion that your website sells product ABC. To get presold targeted traffic that already wants to buy what you have to offer your PPC ads need to have keywords specifically targeted for product ABC. We'll discuss the ROI of this later on in this discussion. For now, lets discuss what you should do to reach people wanting to buy product ABC.

When you make your PPC ads they need to be long-key-word rich. This means if you sell product ABC you need to be specific in which types of product ABC you sell. If you only sell red, blue, yellow, and green ABC, then your keyword list needs to list each of these products separately.

So your keyword list would be: Green ABC, Red ABC, Blue ABC, and Yellow ABC. Don't be over productive and try to seduce buyers looking for Red XYZ, Green LMN, or even pink QRS. All this will do is const you more in the end. Also remember not to try to over seduce people to click on your ads. Those people looking for any of the second group of product, or who are seduced because of the "WOW" factor, will cost you per each click and then wind up not buying anything. The result is a higher cost of advertising.

You should also write an ad for each of the separate niche products you also sell. So, let's say in addition to your ABC line of products you also sell XYZ line. Then you should also but another set of ads specifically directed towards those looking for the XYZ line.

Also, make sure the page people reach when they click on those specifically targeted ads reaches the exact products advertised. And then they can clearly see the buy "this specific product you are looking for by clicking here. One click shopping is a big hit with buyers these days, be sure to invest in it. The easier it is to shop form any particular website, the more likely that customer will return to buy again.

Be sure to check out where all your pages lead and end up before launching the program. Consider buying a tracker for your landing pages. This way you can track who gets there and how, this will enable you to adjust your keywords and ads to reach the best customer base. Also, do a little research into your competitors; see what ads work for them. It may seem time consuming, but if you change when needed according to what works best, you can stay on top of market trends in advertising and always make a profit.

Things To Watch For

Keep track of your ROI. Track not only how many PPC's it takes to earn each dollar, but also track your time spent, and any other services you may be inclined to pay for. You need to calculate your time on a per-hour or per-day basis. So don't be afraid to place a premium price on your valuable time.

Also, if you spend your time wisely, spend your pay-per-click pennies on mostly paying customers who are already sold, and only purchase what is needed to get the job done. Along with keeping an eye on what really works for you and your competitors and make adjustments when necessary, you can avoid many of the pitfalls in PPC click advertising.

Then, you will generate a lot of cash through targeted, pre-sold, traffic and ready to pay and paying customers.
