3 Methods of Making Money Online

Making Money Online in the picture pic photo image galleryMaking money in today's world is not as easy as it use to be, to say the least. Before you would have to get another job or go back to school for more education. However in today's world good jobs have a lot more competition, and college educations are only getting more and more expensive. Luckily the Internet allows for some interesting and unique ways to make a living without having to get another job or spend several grand for further education.

The first and probably best way is to become an affiliate. An affiliate is a person who agrees to promote a company's product, and in exchange they get a commission for every sale that is a result of their marketing. This is similar to what car salesmen do only with the Internet you don't have to talk with dozens of people every day and end up with nothing. With the internet you can promote a company's product dozens of ways.

The second way to make money online is to make your own product and selling it online. This method will require far more input on your part because you have to first develop the product, then you have to set up the web page selling the product, then you have to deal with customer service, and several other tasks related to the development of your product. However because you did develop the product you get to keep all of the profit it makes.

The third way is the less risky and less profitable method of allowing ads to run on your website. This method is the easiest way to make money, however it is also the lowest paying method. Basically you start your own blog about any subject you like and allow company's to advertise on that blog. Whenever the ad is clicked you get a small piece of the pie.

Despite what you might think making money on the internet is possible. If you do your own research you will find some more methods that may or may not be reliable. However, like everything else in the world, you wont make money unless you take action.

I wasted hundreds of dollars on make money online scams. Don't make the same mistakes I did. Here's my review of three (http://www.premiermaverickmoneymakers.com) make money online systems that actually work!

How Much Money Are You Going To Make As An Affiliate Marketer

The sum of money that you can establish with unique article content and affiliate links on your website is going to be different for each affiliate or online business. The success of your (http://www.affiliatexfiles.com/affiliatetips/) affiliate site will determine the sum of money that you pull in. This means getting good search engine ratings through SEO efforts, making your site enjoyable and informative to read with fascinating content, building your site around a great niche topic, how large your site is, and how many sites you have.

Some affiliates claim to pull in as much as 40,000 each month (480,000 each year) via constructing and marketing niche web sites on clickbank. Still, most people should not expect this kind of achievement, particularly if you are very new, as that kind of achievement usually only comes with experience and a practised skill.

To be sensible, you can plan on getting about 200 or more each month after you have built steady traffic and are promoting reliable affiliate products or even your own products within a niche. The secret is to not overlook that this income is recurring, it comes in every month, once you have put in the exertion in creating a productive niche site.

With one productive site most people will set about on the next website. The more productive sites you create the more money you can pull in. Some also choose to build very fast and very short web sites over websites that are somewhat longer in length. It must be remarked that the larger each of your websites are, the more income you will likely establish from them.

You have to remember that your initial site is going to be the most challenging to build, market and advertise. There is invariably a risk that what you are executing may not work out and that you will lose the money you have committed, but this is true of any concern.

The key is that you have to put in a solid effort before giving up. The first site that you build may take some time, the work will be challenging and there will be periods that you feel like quitting. Quitting too early can cause you to miss out on the prosperity you have always sought-after. You might realize that you are the next the web selling guru!

Frequently Asked Question About Google Adsense

By Jason Glover

To be successful online you might want to use Google Adsense. You can have your websites advertise other peoples websites that have different kinds of products. When someone clicks on one of the ads on your site you get paid for that click every time it happens. This is very effective and doesn't cost much at all to do. Plus, making money from your website is the goal and this is the easiest way to do it.

However, there are also some FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) related to Google Adsense. So, below, there are answers to these FAQs.

What is a channel? This helps advertisers make reports that are specially related to some of the ads. It's a great way to identify what ads do well so you can place them on your site and get the most out of the traffic it produces. URL is one of the Channels and Custom, URL is another. You enter the URL you want information from and want to track. You can request at complete website or you can just get a couple pages that fit your criteria. Comparing advertising is through the channels helps you better understand what works.

Usually websites that host ads frequently tend to enquire about when they will actually get paid. Payments are made on a monthly basis. The payment can be about $100 or even more. You would receive the payment by a check or it may be deposited automatically within thirty days of the previous month. In case, your earnings are less than $100, they will keep on adding until they reach $100 or more. For instance, if you earn $110 in the month may, you would be paid the whole amount in June. However, if you earn forty dollars for the month of May, you will not get a payment in June. If you earn another forty Dollars in June, and another $40 in July, your total payment will be $120 which you will receive in August.

One of the most common concerns of a lot of website hosts for ads is whether they have any control over the advertisements placed on their website. These websites tend to get an opportunity for content filtration that arrives in for advertisements. All you require to do is to simply opt for the competitive Ad Filter in the Adsense set up tab. This will allow you to filter the content.

How much will I earn? The amount you earn tends to vary according to the number of ads you host on your website. It also depends on the number of responses every ad gets. However, there is no fixed amount thats guaranteed and no maximum earning limits.

Does it cost anything? There is a minimal $5 start up fee which will allow you to advertise. After that you get charged per click and that depends on what you agreed the price per click is. More click means more you have to pay.

Can I cancel my Adsense Advertising? Of course, you always have the option to stop your ads at any point. Just make sure to send in an email telling Google you would like to stop and your account will stop in about ten days. Keep in mind your advertisers will still want to be paid through that 10 day period as well.

Can I contact someone if I have questions? You can contact Google 24hours 7days a week with whatever concern or question you have, they are very prompt and always ready to help. Call them or send them an email. Or go to their website at www.adwords.com

Making Online Purchases

Purchasing something big can be a quite problematic. In the present world, there are two methods by which you can purchase products. One is to visit the nearest store where you will get what you want to buy and the other one is to buy it online. Buying it online is the easier option as you need not even go out of your house.

There is almost nothing that you cannot buy online. There has even been an increase in the number of cars being sold online. Its easy, fast and a buyer can directly get in touch with the seller which is a major benefit for customers.

Private sellers are quite hard to find. For instance, for buying a car, look at the window for a "For Sale" signboard. Another option would be searching in the local newspaper's classifieds.

The online world has given people who are selling, buying or trading items a very huge hand. Nowadays, hundreds and hundreds of online classifieds are readily available on the net giving people the facility to sell and buy items.

Such online classifieds come up with a variety of formats to help people with various needs. There are some sites which sells products in the auction-style where the seller contacts the highest bidder after the period of auction gets over. Other websites offer products to prospective customers within a click of the button. They also offer customer friendly options like advanced search, reviews by consumer and comparisons with similar products.

Online classifieds is being used as a channel by private sellers and dealers. A few sites allow you to begin online stores. In these stores, the items are put up and no money is taken from the seller.

Online classifieds is sure to help you out no matter who you are- a seller, buyer or a trader.

I have found that (http://www.stumblehere.com) classified ads can be a great tool for increasing traffic with hits and sales and marketing affiliate products. (http://www.stumblehere.com) Ads and free local advertising are the future of selling over the internet.

Long Tail Keywords

Have you built a great website but nobody is coming to visit? Many people are looking to make an income on the internet, but cannot understand why they are not getting traffic. This is where long tail keywords are so important. A few years ago a good site with a prominent main keyword was all that was needed, but not any longer. In those days you may have been competing with a few thousand other sites, now it could be a few million. That does not mean that you cannot succeed, after all millions of new people are coming online each year, so even though the competition may have increased, so has your possible traffic, if only you can reach them.

Long tail keywords are nearly always 2-4 word phrases related to your main topic, but narrow and specific. Try typing "stroller" into a search engine, it will return about 14 million sites, but if you type "red tandem stroller", only 161 thousand sites are returned. This could not really be described as a long tail phrase as the competition is still high, but it does show how, by using more specific keywords, you can cut the competition and improve your chances. It is easier to rank on the first pages of a search engine and get traffic with long tail phrases, than popular phrases.

One big advantage of using a long tail keyword is that you are likely to provide exactly the information the searcher is looking for and if you are supplying a product the potential for a sale is much greater.

Long tail keywords will not have has many searches as the more popular keyword and this is where thorough research is required. You should be looking for phrases that have a reasonable number of searches and very little competition from other sites.

There are a number of software programs you can use to find long tail keywords. Some you buy outright, others have a monthly subscription. If you are just starting out and cannot afford any of these programs then Google's keyword tool will give you a list of keywords associated with a popular keyword and a guide to number of searches and competition.

So if you are having trouble getting traffic, stop trying to complete with the big boys and find some good long tail keywords, there's plenty left if you just look for them.

Top 10 Simple SEO Tips

Here are my top 10 simple SEO copywriting website tips to increase your search engine rankings.

1. Delete your flash front page. Flash is a type of coding that creates animated pages. Flash front pages are pretty - but will totally stuff your rankings on the search engines. The reason is search engines look at the front page of your website as the most important page in the whole site. They expect to find information about what the site is about and what it contains. Without words, the search engine spiders can't work out what the site is about. If you have a flash front page - delete it. You will see an almost instantaneous jump in your rankings.

2. Page titles are important. What you call each page is important. If you title your page "Home" you lose rank. Title your page with the most important words about your site. It doesn't even have to be a full sentence - "Leather Lounges | Lounge Suites | Lounges Sydney" is more effective.

3. Clear keywords count. Know what business you are in and work out the words people who are looking for your product or service key in to find you. There are loads of tools both free and paid to help you do this. Keywords are put into what is called 'metatags" at the top of your page. You don't see them unless you view the source code. Google is very secretive about whether they look at the keywords in the metatags - but some search engines still use them. Just make sure you use your words throughout your page and in your copy as well. Don't overdo it though otherwise you could fall foul of "keyword stuffing" penalties.

4. Different keywords on each page. Each page on your website is different. You need to use the keywords that are relevant to each page's contents. If you use the same words throughout the site, you are costing search positions.

5. Avoid duplicate content. If the search engine thinks you have the same thing on different pages it won't index those duplicate pages. When it calculates whether or not you are duplicating content - the spiders look at everything including your page template, pictures, format as well as words. Make sure each page is sufficiently different to avoid the duplicate content penalty.

6. Pictures have hidden messages. Each picture or graphic on your page needs to have an "alt" tag put in to help vision impaired people read your site (or to describe the content if someone has turned off all photos in their browser). You can use this to add in another keyword. So a photo on my site for example isn't just a "man" it is a "business development consultant".

7. Keep it fresh. Search engines like content that is fresh and updated regularly. Websites should never be set and forget - work out how you can add content in regularly. (I have a blog and my weekly newsletters to subscribers).

8. Inbound links. High quality inbound links are important. These can be links from higher ranking websites or blogs than you. The easiest way to do this is through articles and submitting them throughout online ezines. You can also comment on other's blogs and include a link back to your site or social bookmark your site.

9. Important stuff at the top. Google has a nasty habit of stopping at about 3 levels down - that means your home page, the next page down and then the page below that. If you have good stuff buried down in your website it may not be found.

10. Keep your navigation clear. Google spiders want to see a logical flow of pages throughout your site. If it can't follow the flow it can't index your pages. Keep your navigation path clear and logical.

Tips Proper SEO WORK

Search engine optimization is a key issue in a web site development process. If there is proper SEO work done for a site then good results can be seen in organic search results. What do we understand by proper SEO WORK? By proper SEO work we mean:

* Checking site's hierarchy, links and navigation
* Creating site map for site users.
* Analyzing pages for content that clearly and accurately supports basic theme of the site.
* Researching words that users would type to find site, and make sure that site's content actually includes those words within it.
* Incorporating text instead of images to display important names, content, or links.
* Make suitable changes in your TITLE tags and ALT attributes to show site's theme.
* Check broken links and correct HTML.
* Url rewriting for dynamic pages
* Keeping the link count on a given page to a reasonable number.
* Submit site to a quality directory for back links
* Check status of a site before attempting link exchange
* Monitor back link growth over a period of time, it should be slow and steady

When proper search engine optimization work is done for the site, then search engine would not have any problem in giving you site a good ranking. The site's rank in organic search is totally dependent on the authentic optimization work done for the site. If site is penalized for any reason by the search engine then SEO has to find and resolve such issue. A authentic search engine optimization effort lasts a long time and gives site a respectable position in the eyes of search engine.

First Step SEO For Beginner

First basic SEO

The basic elements of SEO consist of, in my view, rich content with appropriate use of keywords and links, both inbound and outbound.

These can be divided into many issues. I am, however, only going to discuss, in a few words, one point that webmasters can use in order to boost the rankings of their pages.

One keyword - one page

Doing the "keywords work" is the basis for SEO and any successful marketing of web pages on the internet. What keywords describe best the product or services you want to highlight?

And are those keywords carefully chosen?

The next thing to do is have another look at our competition. Remember that knowing your opposition is the first step to victory. Fighting them where they are the weakest, and stay clear of the fortresses, should be the tactics for success.

Let's say, for the sake of argument, we pick the best keywords possible for our SEO work. But how to proceed?

There are many ways to proceed but the best possible groundwork is to allocate a special page to each individual keyword or chunk of keywords. And go from there, making a rich content with a carefully planned layout and textual setup, trying to present the keyword within a bullet list, anchor text and in bold letters, at least occasionally. And place the keyword in the first sentence of that page. And try to place that keyword also within the title of that particular page.

This is a good start. Now that keyword can be indexed by or resubmitted to Googlebot and other spiders. Other keywords should also be treated in this manner.

But the SEO work is only on square number one. But the foundation is now solid enough to build upon.

Start Up Tips For Get Search Engine Optimized

Search engine optimizing is so important lately, that starting up an online business without focusing on this key component (most important in my opinion) is like running a marathon, aiming for one of the last positions. Now, many of you are thinking, what is this SEO thing and how can someone tell me my online business is aiming to fall behind right from the start? Well... the sure and dreadful truth is that you are being naïve and not realizing that taking your business online is not the same as running around in the street handing out fliers.

My attempt with this article is to give you a few start-up tips on how to get your webpage Search Engine Optimized (SEO) :

1. Focus on the right keyword

By making use of Google AdWords: Keyword Tool, you can see how many people averagely searches for the keyword you are aiming to dominate, per month. For example, if you have a real estate business you would like to dominate the keyword "real estate". The problem with this is that most of the biggest real estate companies in the world would've put 1000's of dollars into getting their pages to come up first when searching for "real estate". This will not be easy to take on at first. We will be focusing on the keywords that had around 8000 views in the last month.

2. Get listed on Google, MSN and Yahoo fast

The wrong idea people have with getting listed is that they use the "add site" pages offered by Google, MSN and Yahoo. I was one of them and I think MSN and Yahoo actually did list me when I used the "add site" pages. But Google is obviously the one you want to focus on and believe me, Google, will take 2 months, if you are lucky, to add your site. So the trick here is to get as many pages as possible to link to your page. This will get your page added to Google very quickly and will also push up your page rank. One way to this is to post your link on many forum pages and even article pages. You can also purchase advertisements or even email other pages, and ask them to link to you if you will link to them. This will get you added to Google in no time!

These two big ideas should get you up and running. There is a lot of other ideas that I didn't mention now, but I think these two are the most important to start off with. People tend to focus too much on on-page optimizing (meta tags, etc.), don't get me wrong, it is also important, but off-page optimizing like explained above, will show a lot bigger results.

Pay Per Click Companies in the UK

By Derek Rogers

There are many UK based pay per click companies you can select from. Many of the companies include Yahoo!, MIVA, Meg Peg, Mirago, Search2, SearchBidz, and UK Searcher. You might consider one of these companies when you are looking for the right pay per click solution for your site. Some companies offer free credits which give you the opportunity to try them out first before you know if you really want to use them or not.

Yahoo! Search Marketing offers a professional and well maintained website. Since 1997, they have pioneered the pay per click search engine model. The main product offered through Yahoo Search is the sponsored search providing listings on the World Wide Web's top portals and search engines top results. They provide site exposure to over 80 % of the Internet's active users and when you sign up with them they give you a L50 credit.

MIVA is a UK pay per click advertising firm that also offers free credits when you sign up with them. MIVA is not a destination site that people go to but it is a network of sites. Some businesses prefer this. They receive over 2 billion search queries a month.

Meg Peg is another UK based company you might consider for your pay per click needs. They offer a credit when you sign up and they have a minimum bid of 0.01.

Mirago is a pay per click private tech company that has been listed as one of Britain's top 20 fastest growing companies for two consecutive years. A nice thing about Mirago is that they offer a campaign management section on their website that allows you to have total control over your campaign management. If you want to be able to watch and manage the activities toward your pay per click advertising efforts then this solution might be what you are looking for.

Some of the points you might want to look at when you are looking for the right pay per click company in the UK is the cost. Find out what your fees are in comparison to the amount of money you can be making. If the charges are too high and you don't have enough traffic then you could be losing money. Some businesses will allow you to begin for free and even give you credits to begin with. This will allow you to begin and to have a good idea on how your campaign is going to work.

Finding the right UK pay per click advertising company is important. You want to be sure the company is going to get you the search results your business needs. One thing to think about is the actual traffic the Pay per Click Company you are looking at has. Check out how successful the company is and research the companies before you make a solid decision on which you are going to go with. Be sure the one you choose is not charging you too much money per click either. The rates should be comparable across the market.

Derek Rogers is a freelance writer who represents many UK businesses. For advice on Pay per Click, he recommends Impact Media Ltd, one of the UK's leading specialists of Pay per Click.

A Quick Guide to Making Money With Google AdSense

By Lee Cole

I'm sure you've seen Google AdSense ads. Google started their AdSense program a few years ago and the revenue they get from it is over 70% of their entire revenue. In other words, AdSense is Huge with a capital "H"!

The type of AdSense ads you run on your web sites are called "contextual". Google basically "reads" your site and figures out what it's about. Then they place ads on the site that are related to your content.

You've seen these ads. If you're on a cell phone site, then the ads usually are for cell phone stuff. If you're on a site about diabetes control, then the ads reflect that.

Whenever someone clicks on one of these ads, the webmaster gets paid! Now, Google won't tell you what percentage of what the advertiser is paying they're passing along to you, but that really doesn't matter.

AdSense is usually my first step in monetizing any website. And it usually works very well. Let's discuss this in more detail.

I usually divide commercial websites into three types of site, authority sites, thin affiliate sites, and what I call squeeze page sites.

AdSense works very well with the first two. Since squeeze page sites are usually just a collection of unlinked squeeze pages, AdSense doesn't work well here.

By authority site, I mean a large site that has a lot of content about a certain fairly broad niche. These sites are made for AdSense. They tend to get a lot of traffic and some of that traffic is bound to click on your ads-especially if they're well placed.

AdSense also works well with what I call highly targeted thin affiliate sites. (As a matter of fact, in my experience, it works better with thin affiliate sites.) If you had a site selling a certain narrowly defined type of cell phone, then AdSense would work great there.

Sometimes I get asked if adding AdSense takes away from any other affiliate sales I might want to make from my site. My experience is that it does not. I think the reason for this is that visitors who click on ads are in a different stage of buying than a prospect for my affiliate product. The thing is someone actually has to pull out the credit card and buy the affiliate product for me to get paid. They only have to be curious enough to click on the AdSense ad for me to get paid. That's a much lower threshold!

How much you make from your site depends on a lot of factors-the amount of traffic, what the niche is about, and where you place your ads.

In general, you want to place your ads right in the middle of where someone's eye naturally flows. Placing ads at the bottom of the page is not a good idea-by that time the visitor is ready to leave the page. Placing ads at the top and in the middle works better.

To get a good idea of where to put your ads, look up Google heat maps. These are color coded templates that show you the most important real estate on your website.

The thing to do with AdSense is to experiment with the placement to maximize your profit.

One more thing-personally, I use AdSense as extra gravy. I don't depend on it as my main income source. That's putting all my eggs in one basket, and I like to spread stuff around.

Banned by Google AdSense

By Steven Weber

I just received another sad letter from a person who got the "dreaded letter" from Google. Their AdSense account had been terminated! To add insult to injury, according to Google's terms of service, any money owed at that point will NOT be paid; it is returned to the advertisers.

Don't let it happen to you!

Clicking your own links is not the only way to get banned. For example, I never tell or show friends or relatives my sites. Call me paranoid, but Google's reach is so broad that I am afraid they could make the connection if those friends started clicking my ads. Who knows...but I am not taking any chances!

If you violate "minor" rules, they may be nice and just warn you. Or they will just hit the ban button depending I think on the mood of the reviewer at the time. Make sure you read the rules and follow them!

Another person asked me if the way they had pictures near their ads violated rules. If it was obvious to me it was a rules violation, imagine what the Google reviewer would think!

One more example:

A person contacted me about their site which was doing poorly with respect to traffic. I took one look and told the owner that the varied content would be seen by the search engines as "spam". Google is very clear; sites with no real intent of providing a quality experience for visitors are not welcome in the AdSense program. Several weeks later, the person wrote back; they had received "the letter". I don't know if what I saw is what got them banned or not; but it sure did not help.

How to Make Money With AdSense - Making Money From Your Website

By Alan Lim

Quite a large number of people read books that talk about how to make money with AdSense and think that it is very simple. People are under the impression that all you need to do is host pay-per-click Ads on their website, and sit and back and relax. Nothing can be further from the truth. It's a lot of work, and only if you work will you get the desired results.

Easy as Cake - Not Quite

Never buy into any idea that offers an easy way to make money on the internet. A lot of people have bought into the simplicity of AdSense as proclaimed by various sources, but the reality is vastly different. People are fast realizing that there are various prohibitions put into place by Google, when it comes to utilizing AdSense and the answer to how to make money with AdSense is not as easy as they thought it would be.

The Prerequisites

If you want to make money with AdSense, you not only have to stringently comply with the various AdSense policies but your website must also duly comply with all the policies underlined by the Webmaster of Google.

You must understand that only if you can attract many visitors to your site, will your AdSense endeavor be successful. This can be achieved through a combination of techniques like Search Engine Optimization, Article Submission, Link Exchange, Pay per Click and various others. Moreover, the layout of the web pages is such that they must blend in with the Ads that you host on the site. Make sure that your Ads cannot be ignored; this is one of the important pointers that must be kept in mind in your quest to learn how to make money with AdSense.

Tackle the Competition

Many a times, and I would go so far as to say that it is a common enough occurrence; when you start hosting the Pay Per Click Ads you will find that there are many Ads from your competitors. Learn to host these Ads on those pages that are not as successful for you as the other pages. Otherwise you can put off posting those ads till the time you are busy enough so that you can at least earn some amount of money off your competitors. When you think about how to make money with AdSense, you must keep a watch on the Ads of your competitors.

Not a Money Making Machine

The purpose of Google AdSense is not only offering a monetary advantage to the people who host the Ads, but also to offer a promotional advantage to people who want their Ads to be hosted. Never think of it as a machine that churns out money. You have to put your question of how to make money with AdSense in perspective. The program is multi-beneficial and hence has to be worked upon, learnt, and expertly handled before you can think about making substantial earnings. Patience and Hard Work are the keys here.

eBranding Using Pay Per Click Advertising

By Paul Symonds

Many people start using Pay Per Click advertising with the intention to use it as a short-term way of driving traffic to their site and to achieve sales, whilst in the mean time planning to improve organic results through SEO techniques. Is PPC advertising a short term technique though and what are some tricks for optimising and benefitting from PPC?

What I have found after a while is that when a site comes very high is organic results, one then has the choice to reduce or stop the AdWords expenditure for that keyword phrase or the choice to keep the expenditure going. It is not a simply choice of stopping the AdWords I have found because you can begin to double up your marketing efforts and brand heavily on the web with i) both high placed natural, organic search results, ii) a 3rd or 4th place PPC placed ad and iii) a Google Maps entry which displays for a few important, related expressions.

The point is that why remove your PPC expenditure (whether it be for Facebook, Overture or AdWords expenditure) if the ROI (Return on investment) is good. In other words, if you are getting sales which substantiate the PPC costs, then it can often make more sense to keep the PPC expenditure so that you have your company name and presence in more than one key area on a results page, with your combination of a good natural search results position and a nicely located position 3 or 4 sponsored position (I say 3 or 4 because these are often much cheaper and yet equally as effective as positions 1 and 2 which many people ignore).

Google Maps is free to submit your business listing to and your business may also get a 3rd listing on the one web page for a given search term thus you really begin to brand heavily and overall quite cheaply. Many of the largest companies appear to use this way of branding with a double or triple presence for many search terms.

There is a reason why you may not want to retain a budget for a search term which already rates highly in organic searches and this is because you might need the budget now to tackle other key expressions in AdWords, for which you would like to show but did not previously have the budget for. The main point is to think carefully abut branding as well as organic search positions, when deciding on whether or not to use AdWords for a given keywords phrase.

SEO and Pay Per Click Downward Economy Tips

By Keith K. Hanks

Many marketing managers have found the first half of 2008 has been nerve wrenching. Turn on the television, radio or open a newspaper and you'll see that consumer confidence is down, inflation is creeping in and overall confidence in the economy is reaching historical lows.

It is not your fault the market is in its current condition. How could you have forecasted these figures when you submitted your budget last year? Reaching sales goals that were established in an optimistic economy is probably more obtainable than in a downward economy.

You can not control the macro factors of the economy, but as a professional it's your job to find ways obtain your committed numbers. Before you start waving the white flag, consider these handy search engine marketing steps you can implement.

Determine Seasonality:

Each company tends to have a unique season. For retail, its Q4 where consumer accounting services is Q1. Tourism peaks in the summer months of Q3. Consider your industry, your company and the brand(s) you are responsible for. What is your busy season? How do you define your busy season? Do you define it by an increase in revenue, an increase in transactions or both?

Many managers are finding awkward meetings with senior management based around decreased financial performance. How can you quantitatively explain a decrease in financial performance year over year, or against your sales plan.

If you can't justify performance, outside of kindly asking senior management to turn on the television and look at the various news stories about the downward economy, what can you do?

There are various programs that can help you determine seasonality. Unfortunately not all programs will provide current seasonality (including paid services). You may find the closest seasonality trends you can obtain will focus around the previous calendar year (example January 2007 - December 2007).

Applying Seasonality to Pay Per Click:

If you haven't paid attention to pay per click seasonality trending in the past, now you understand the importance. To further stretch your budget in a downward economy think of the application of your pay per click resources. Why distribute your ad spend in perfect twelfths across the course of a year when you know you have a few months that are particularly busy.

To be better prepared for this busy period consider the length of your sales cycle. Shift resources to strong performing keywords at the beginning of the sales cycle. For example if you find your busy season is October and November and you have a 60 day sales cycle, be prepared to increase your ad spend in August. This means your ads and a revised strategy should be ready no later than mid-July.

Determine Online Trends:

Determining online trending of web traffic is difficult. On the surface this seems like it should be as easy as counting inventory on a supermarket shelf. Senior managers, especially with a finance background tend to have a difficult time with online marketing efforts at times because of a lack of measurement in some areas. These professionals are correct to criticize. Getting industry-wide information that is dependable and updated to the present day is not easy.

Some qualitative measurements can be obtained, but reliable industry-wide quantitative statistics are not always available. This is because search engines do not make this information public and other available tools typically rely on sampling, i.e. the validity can be speculated and the information is not absolute (what senior managers are depending on).

Senior management and the marketing managers are going to need to take a leap of faith in some areas here. Past experiences and instincts will need to be considered along with various trending reports.

Reach Out to an SEO firm:

In a downward economy an SEO firm seems like the last area you would want to reach out to. Spending more money is sometimes the last thing a firm wants to consider when in a downward economy and facing inevitable decreased financial performance. For example, a good Atlanta search engine optimization agency will walk you through a series of exercises. You'll want to determine your cost to acquire a new customer and spend accordingly. Also, you'll want to ensure your "call to action" steps are well defined and pages such as "contact us" pages are designed for customer usability.

Optimizing your campaign can help you gain market share during a downward economy. While this might not be as glamorous as meeting and exceeding sales forecasts, this is a long term strategy. If you are able to gain market share while the economy is cold, you will be minimizing your loses during this time and positioning yourself to be in a stronger position when the economy turns around.

Keith Hanks is an Account Manager at Atlanta search engine optimization agency TwentySix2 Marketing. He believes that in a downward economy an SEO firm can with pay per click seasonality and online marketing trending.

Google AdWords - What Does The Term AdWords Mean?

By Peter Shuker

Google adwords is a term that google come up with to back the year 2000, it is a reference to the advertising division of Google. It is essentially adverts that contain keywords, hence advert + keyword = adword. It is the business run by Google, the largest advertising agency on the internet today. The competitors to Google adwords, who run a similar system, albeit different are Yahoo and Microsoft, both of these use similar methods, but since Google is responsible for over 50% of the internet searches, conducted, then they are the one we will discuss.

It sounds simple, decide on a product, create an advert and within 15minutes using the adwords wizard, you can be live "Making Money", that is what Google would have you believe anyway. I am not trying to discourage you, giving PPC (Pay Per Click), ago. I am just saying proceed with caution.

Let us talk about keywords, they are what you desire most in PPC, the better the keyword, the more traffic you will receive, the more money you will make. Unfortunately the best keywords for your product therefore, the most desirable are the most EXPENSIVE, the trick here is to generate keywords that attract traffic, but not too much, to do this we use the longtail keyword method (keywords containing 3 or more words). The problem here, is that you will potentially earn less as well. If you are new to internet marketing, then I would suggest start slow, learn the techniques and gather the necessary experience before investing, what could be large sums of money, and if you anything like me, you do not want to do that, without some assurances that you know what you are doing.

So lets assume you have selected a product to advertise, now you want to create an adgroup, this is where to place your keywords by group, what I mean here is that you must have relevancy running through both your adgroup title and your keywords, this again will contribute to google rewarding you with a lower quality score, which in turn will enable you to pay a lower CPC (cost per click) and eventually give you a higher ad position.

Finally you just need to bring all of the above together and write your advertisement, that will attract potential customers to click on YOUR advert, we do this by again using relevancy, if the words used in your advert are used in your adgroup then Google will reward this by BOLDING the words.

AdWords Profit With Pay-Per-Click - Keep Track of Your ROI

By Tim Amlong

Using pay-per-click (PPC) the right way you can make easy profits. All you need are these tips, to avoid pitfalls, and some quality time spent working at getting better at the game. If you do it the right way first, and keep at it, then you can really create a ton of cash, and a lot of clients both now, and in the future. The key is finding your niche, keeping track of what works, and keeping tabs on your return in investment. (ROI)

Finding What your Good At

A targeted audience with your website is best. General Websites draw too many people just as general ads draw too many clicks. You want a targeted audience if you are to make good profits. A targeted audience is generally already sold on the subject, idea, or product and click on your targeted PPC ad to reach specifically what your ad advertised. While this may seem simple enough, all too often it's this one mistake that if the downfall to a website owners ROI on their PPC ads.

Okay, this is how it works. Let's say for the sake of this discussion that your website sells product ABC. To get presold targeted traffic that already wants to buy what you have to offer your PPC ads need to have keywords specifically targeted for product ABC. We'll discuss the ROI of this later on in this discussion. For now, lets discuss what you should do to reach people wanting to buy product ABC.

When you make your PPC ads they need to be long-key-word rich. This means if you sell product ABC you need to be specific in which types of product ABC you sell. If you only sell red, blue, yellow, and green ABC, then your keyword list needs to list each of these products separately.

So your keyword list would be: Green ABC, Red ABC, Blue ABC, and Yellow ABC. Don't be over productive and try to seduce buyers looking for Red XYZ, Green LMN, or even pink QRS. All this will do is const you more in the end. Also remember not to try to over seduce people to click on your ads. Those people looking for any of the second group of product, or who are seduced because of the "WOW" factor, will cost you per each click and then wind up not buying anything. The result is a higher cost of advertising.

You should also write an ad for each of the separate niche products you also sell. So, let's say in addition to your ABC line of products you also sell XYZ line. Then you should also but another set of ads specifically directed towards those looking for the XYZ line.

Also, make sure the page people reach when they click on those specifically targeted ads reaches the exact products advertised. And then they can clearly see the buy "this specific product you are looking for by clicking here. One click shopping is a big hit with buyers these days, be sure to invest in it. The easier it is to shop form any particular website, the more likely that customer will return to buy again.

Be sure to check out where all your pages lead and end up before launching the program. Consider buying a tracker for your landing pages. This way you can track who gets there and how, this will enable you to adjust your keywords and ads to reach the best customer base. Also, do a little research into your competitors; see what ads work for them. It may seem time consuming, but if you change when needed according to what works best, you can stay on top of market trends in advertising and always make a profit.

Things To Watch For

Keep track of your ROI. Track not only how many PPC's it takes to earn each dollar, but also track your time spent, and any other services you may be inclined to pay for. You need to calculate your time on a per-hour or per-day basis. So don't be afraid to place a premium price on your valuable time.

Also, if you spend your time wisely, spend your pay-per-click pennies on mostly paying customers who are already sold, and only purchase what is needed to get the job done. Along with keeping an eye on what really works for you and your competitors and make adjustments when necessary, you can avoid many of the pitfalls in PPC click advertising.

Then, you will generate a lot of cash through targeted, pre-sold, traffic and ready to pay and paying customers.
