Google Adwords - How To Set Up Your Google Adwords Account

By Tracey A Edwards

Setting up your Google Adwords Account is simply a matter of following a few easy steps. Once you are set up, you are able to start advertising on the biggest pay per click network in the world and have your ad seen by potentially thousands of new customers.

Once you've headed to the Google Adwords homepage you need to click the 'Click to Begin' button to get started.

Then you'll be given the option of whether you want to start with the Starter or Standard Edition.

If you want to just get your feet wet then it's perfectly fine to start with the Starter Edition. This gets you up and running with your first ad very quickly. However the drawback is that you are limited in the number of ads and campaigns that you can run. You are also limited to setting bid prices and budgets for your ads as Google will optimise and choose the best bid prices for you.

You can always upgrade to the Standard Edition at any time if you decide to start with the easier one first.

If you choose the Standard Edition the first thing you will need to set up is the languages that you wish to target. Obviously it is wise to choose the language of the customer that you are targeting (if you're target audience is Chinese then you would choose this option), however the default language is set to English.

Then you need to decide if you are going to show your ad globally or only within certain countries or cities. If you have a physical product then you only need to show your ad in area's that you ship to.

After that the fun begins and you get to start writing your ad and adding keywords for it and choosing a budget to spend. After your ad is finished it's just a click away by pressing 'start' to make your ad live and to begin seeing traffic to your website.

Most of the process is fairly easy to follow and even the novice Adwords advertiser should have no problem setting up an account.
