Organic SEO or Pay Per Click? Which is the Right Choice for You?

By Jerret Turner

When you set out to drive traffic to your site you want to make sure that you are going in the right direction from the beginning in order to avoid needless expenses that can occur with a misdirected traffic plan.

When it comes to gaining high rankings on the search engines, you have two basic choices. Do you invest in pay per click advertising, or do you invest in search engine optimization? You need the right information in order to make the right decision for your business.

Pay per Click is great for several reasons; it allows you to see instant results and you can increase your visibility by advertising on several sites. It is done by finding a site with a lot of traffic and then bidding on an open advertisement spot on that site. If your bid is chosen you can then insert your ad on that page. When customers see your ad on that page they can click on it. For every customer that clicks on your ad, the site owner gets a certain amount agreed upon by the owner and you.

This is not only a fast way to give your business a jump start but it will also boost sales as customers come into your site to find products or services that they may not be able to find anywhere else.

However, you need to take care to set limits to your advertising spend. Google will allow you to set daily limits on the amount you are willing to spend on pay per click. Your main goal is to make everyone that clicks on your ad a customer to justify your advertising spend.

Organic search engine optimization is the process of having your website rank at the top of the search engine pages for keyword searches relating to your business. This can be very difficult to achieve and can take a number of months before you begin to see results.

However, it is very effective. A spot on the first page of any of the major search engines will bring a huge volume of traffic to your website. It is widely accepted that web users are much more likely to trust organic search engine results than pay per click ads.

In addition, there is no advertising spend on organic SEO. However, it could require a significant time investment to achieve a high ranking. The various methods of search engine optimizing your website are two numerous to go into here, and it can be a complex area.

If you are looking for some quick results, then pay per click is the best option for you. However, you should also have a long-term goal of a high search engine page ranking.
