Making Adsense Work - For the Beginner

It is very true that many people are making a ton of money from their websites by displaying Google adsense ads on them. Although many webmasters are making a nice income with these ads, many aren't just because they don't know what the "gurus" know. It is all about the knowledge. You must have come through online forums where people claim that they are making well over $50 or even $100 per day from their Google ads. What many, who start a new website, don't know is that before you do anything you need to educate yourself to the point where you know what steps are needed to be taken just like the "gurus" are doing.

Having or displaying the Google ads at the right spots is very important. This will basically determine how much money you will make each day and how much you will not make. It is that simple. One of the most important things that you need to do is to make sure that you have at least ONE ad right at the top of your website. This is also known as "above the fold".

The main reason for having at least ONE Google ad at the very top of your site is because you want your visitors to see the Google ad first as soon as they arrive at your website. They don't have to scroll down to see the Google ads. 70% of the time, your website visitors will not scroll down. What they will do is focus on all the offers that stand out at the very top of the page. There is a better chance that visitors will click on the ad first, which will help your site generate a higher click through rate also known as CTR.

Another great way to have more people click on your Google ads is by blending the ad with the rest of your page. This will determine if the ad is visually appealing to your visitors or not. It's important to make the Adsense ads look like your site and not another ad. If it looks like a banner or just another ad, they will probably not click on any of those ads.

If you want to blend the ads with the rest of your site, you can do this by making the font and color of the ad's text similar to the rest of the page. You will also want to blend the background of the ad with the background of your page. It should basically have the same color. So if your background color is white, have your ad's background color white too. Same thing with other colors. You can actually do all of this from your Google account. It is very easy. This will help you blend the ads to your site.

Again, make sure that you don't use the banner ads on your site because this will decrease your click through rate. Look for the TEXT ads and add them to your site. People will eventually try to avoid any of your banner ads. There are a lot of " Adsense gurus" who actually go online and post great and informative tips on how a person can increase their click through rate and income with their adsense ads. Here are a few good tips:

1. A lot of successful internet marketers have confirmed that using the 336x280 rectangle ad block size does have the highest click through rate of all the others. Using this ad size will increase your click through rate and the income that you can generate. I am not saying that the other ads will not do well. I am just saying that this particular ad will do better.

2. Using a blue underline for the links can also improve your click through rate. This allows the ads to actually stand out and look clickable. This will attract the person's eye to click on the ad. This is what you want to also do.
