3 Things You Must Know About AdWords

By Steven Wagenheim

Knowing everything there is to know about using Adwords advertising would take a novel to convey and this article, as well as this author, doesn't have that much space to play with. However, there are 3 things you better know about Adwords or you're going to be throwing more money out your advertising window than you can possibly imagine. It is my hopes that these tips will save you a pretty penny when using Adwords to promote your product or service.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when using Adwords is to use the content network. Let me explain why this is a mistake. The majority of people who are truly looking for a product that will solve a problem that they have, and have money to spend, are those who use the search network. They are going right to the source. Those who use content sites are mostly looking for free solutions, such as those who go to blogs. These people are less likely to spend their hard earned money. I have personally tested this and my results from content sites have been horrible. Most will agree. So please save your money and only use Adwords for search.

Another thing you must know about Adwords is that if you are going to promote a product or service that isn't your own, in other words, as an affiliate, you can't send people to an affiliate page. Google does not like this because what happens is that their users are all sent to the same page for each search they make. So Google penalizes you for using this method. Instead, what you have to do is create your own authority site and on THAT site, post your review or ad for the product you want to sell. There is no way around this if you want to make money using Adwords advertising.

Finally, there is keyword usage. Many people use very generic keywords for their niche which don't really target their market properly. For example, let's say you're selling a natural acne cure. Using the keyword acne, is too general. Not everybody who looks up the word acne is looking for a natural cure. You could be wasting money on clicks that are unlikely to convert to sales. So make sure your keywords are tightly targeted to your market.

If you follow these 3 basic tips, you'll have a much better chance of succeeding with Adwords advertising.
