Five Steps To A Successful AdWords Campaign

By Elaine Berry
When you start making money from adwords, it’s so exciting! Yet many people never learn what makes a successful adwords campaign.

You can’t just leap into adwords marketing and expect to succeed. There are certain principles you have to follow if you want to make sure your campaigns are going to work.

So what are the ingredients of a successful adwords campaign? They include:

1. Target your location accurately. So many people make the mistake of getting their ad shown in all the countries that speak their language - for instance, if your language is English, showing it across USA, Canada, Australia and UK. This is fine if it’s a universal web-based product, but not much use if you are promoting a car-valeting service across the south of England. So just check your targeting is accurate or you will waste lots of money.

2. Find low-search keywords. Most adwords advertisers only focus on the most popular keywords, so get lots of untargeted clicks. If you take the time to search for low-search keywords and phrases, you will beat the competition.

3. Put your keywords in your ad headline. This is important for a successful adwords campaign. Google will put the keyword in bold if it appears in your title. So obviously if someone sees the exact phrase they searched on jumping out at them, they are more likely to click.

4. Keep your adgroups small. This means, write a different ad for each small, closely-related group of keywords. Your ads need to be precisely relevant to the keywords people are searching on. The more keywords you put in your adgroup, the less relevant your ads will be. Conversely, the smaller your adgroups, the more effective your ads will be.

5. Track your campaigns closely. Keep a close eye on which keywords and which ads are doing well and which are not. Most people just set up campaigns and hope for the best, but there is no way everything will succeed straight away. Pull the ones that aren’t doing well or you will lose a lot of money. And keep tweaking and refining the ones that do succeed.

Of course there are other factors that go to make a successful adwords campaign. But if you follow these steps you’ll see your profits improve dramatically.
